On this Page you will find out about what
Double Dee Line Dance Club
is all about and the people that help run it
.

This is me - Dennis, or as the more starchy of you might prefer Dennis Sansome. I am married to Janet, and we have two children, Catherine and James, both flown the nest and alas neither interested in linedancing. I started line dancing about 3 years ago and by pure luck attended probably the best class for a long way (present company excepted). I loved the music, the activity, the friendliness and the sheer excitement that linedancing gave me. It began to take over my life and it seemed natural that I should train with the BWDA and take my instructors exams and begin to put back into the pastime some of what I have learned. I had been teaching for about 18 months at a couple of classes, and felt it time to start a class myself.
I have strong views with regard to linedancing, but the best kick I get from linedancing is seeing the fun that people get when they come to class or go to a social.
It is this concept that I build my whole attitude to Linedancing upon - It should be FUN !! because if it isn't, you wont want to do it.

This is Janet, my ever suffering wife of 37 years. We tried dancing once before, shortly after getting married when social ballroom dancing was the "way to go". We went for 12 weeks and just about mastered the waltz (basic - no turns) - it was a disaster and we were convinced that dancing for us was a non-event. 'Twas ever thus for the next 34 years, until we both decided to try linedancing (we needed to get more exercise). It was a revelation - we could go together, dance all night, yet still not tread on each others toes. Janet is an accomplished linedancer that knows her own limitations, a lesson that many of us might learn from. She likes most kinds of music and dances, but dislikes dreary (cut your throat) music.
Janet is the wind beneath my wings, the sensible one, the accountant, the secretary, the organiser, head cook, bottle washer and totally indispensible.
Without her I would't be me.

The concept of the Club is one of Fun and Enjoyment.

The level at which we teach is that of Beginner / Improver. For me, that is the stage that I have never left, although I dance intermediate dances I still think of myself as a beginner, because we are all still learning. Many people have often said that you can tell intermediate and advanced dancers from the beginner / improver dancers on the floor quite easily - the beginner/improvers are the ones with smiles on their faces !!!! - that sums it up for me.
At our club we want you to enjoy your visit, make friends, and dance the dances you want. They may not be the lastest, the hardest, the flashiest, but hopefully they will be the ones that YOU want to dance. If they're not, say something, see me or Janet and we will try our best to make OUR club - YOUR club.

On this site hopefully you will find something to interest you, stay awhile, get to know us and please sign the guest book, that way we will know you have visited us.
